Capacity Building

ELSA is a member of the European Disability Forum (EDF).  The EDF is a Brussels based umbrella disability organisation that has good contacts with the European Commission (EC).

The EC has a small project called "Capacity Building" and 5 countries have been chosen to participate in this programme following presentations by their National Disability Councils.
The countries are Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Iceland and Portugal.
The project will provide funding to allow disability organisations in these countries to work together to raise awareness of the their subject. This includes stuttering associations.

Edwin J Farr, Chair of the European League of Stuttering Associations has been liaising with the EDF and has nominated a representative of the stuttering associations from the 5 countries.
The capacity building will be in the form of seminars and conferences to raise awareness of various disabilities including stuttering during the autumn of 2012.
